Imran Khan’s Involvement in May 9 Attacks as Campaign against Army Chief: Usman Dar Reveals

In a recent appearance on a private news channel, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and ex-minister Usman Dar, who had been missing for a period following his arrest in Karachi, made startling revelations regarding the party’s founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, who has been in custody for the past two months.

During an interview with TV host Kamran Shahid, Usman Dar claimed that Imran Khan and his close associates had masterminded the violent events of May 9 as part of a well-coordinated and malicious campaign. Dar alleged that the orders for the attacks on both civilian and military targets were issued directly by Imran Khan himself, the chairman of the PTI.

Dar asserted that Imran Khan had employed human shields to evade arrest in Lahore and had personally given instructions for assaults on various civil and military installations. According to him, there were explicit directives from the PTI chief to target sensitive installations in order to exert pressure on the military. He disclosed that the planning for the May 9 incidents had taken place at Imran Khan’s Lahore residence in Zaman Park.

Dar contended that the primary motive behind this series of attacks was to pressure the armed forces and potentially remove Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir from his position.

In the explosive interview, the former aide of Imran Khan’s youth affairs division claimed that the PTI chief had promoted an anti-state narrative for political gain. While recounting the violence at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad and Zaman Park in Lahore, Dar characterized it as a form of psychological manipulation.

He also mentioned that PTI’s long march in October 2022 had been organized to protest against the appointment of Asim Munir as the COAS.”
