52 Killed, 60 injured in Mastung Suicide Blast

Quetta: At least 52 people, including a police officer killed and more than 60 injured in a suicide blast near an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in Mastung, a district in Balochistan province of Pakistan.

According to District Health Officer (DHO) Abdul Razzaq Shahi, 22 victims were transported to the DHQ hospital, with the remaining casualties receiving care at different medical facilities. Among the wounded, more than 20 individuals in critical condition were urgently transferred to Quetta for specialized medical attention.

The horrific explosion occurred as people had gathered near a mosque to participate in a procession commemorating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a significant public holiday in Pakistan. The suicide bomber carried out the attack in close proximity to the vehicle of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gishkori, who tragically lost his life while overseeing the procession.

In response to this heart-wrenching tragedy, President Arif Alvi and caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar have unequivocally condemned the attack and called for stringent measures to bring the perpetrators to justice.
